Getting Started
Creating an account, your first server, and joining othersHow do I create a Frevvu account?
Click Create your account on the homepage or open the app and choose "Register." You'll need a username, email address and password — verify your email afterward to unlock the full app.
Do I need to download anything, or can I use Frevvu in a browser?
Both work. Open the web app straight from your browser, or download the desktop app for Windows for a native experience with system notifications and better call performance. A downloadable build is coming soon.
How do I create my first server?
Click the + button at the bottom of the server list on the left, choose "Create a Server," give it a name and icon, and you're in. You'll automatically be the owner with full permissions.
How do I join a server someone invited me to?
Click the invite link they sent you (it opens Frevvu directly), or click the + button in your server list, choose "Join a Server," and paste the invite code.
Is Frevvu free to use?
Yes — creating an account, servers, channels, voice calls and DMs are all free. Pro and Ultimate subscriptions add extra perks like higher upload limits and the ability to boost ("Ignite") your servers, but they're optional.
Servers & Channels
Setting up, customizing and managing your communitiesHow do I create text and voice channels?
Open your server, click the + next to "Text Channels" or "Voice Channels" in the left panel (or the server's settings gear), name the channel, and choose the type. You can group channels under categories too.
How do I change my server's icon or banner?
Hover the server banner at the top of the left panel and click the pencil icon, or open Server Settings → Overview. Pick an image, crop and position it, and save — animated GIF banners require Ignite Level 3.
What are roles and permissions?
Roles let you group members and control what they can do — post, manage channels, kick/ban, mention everyone, and more. Create and edit roles under Server Settings → Roles, then assign them to members from the member list.
What is a server's "Level," and how do I raise it?
Servers level up (0 through 3) from "sparks" contributed when Pro or Ultimate members Ignite (boost) the server. Higher levels unlock more custom emoji slots, bigger attachment limits, animated server icons and banners, and a vanity invite link. See the Subscriptions & Ignite section below for details.
How do I delete or leave a server?
Click the server name at the top of the channel list to open its dropdown, then choose "Leave Server" (members) or "Delete Server" (owners only — this is permanent and can't be undone).
Can I get a custom invite link for my server?
Vanity invite links (like
frevvu.com/yourname) unlock at server Ignite Level 3. Below that, invites use a randomly generated code that you can still share and reuse.Voice & Video
Calls, voice channels and screen sharingHow do I join a voice channel?
Click any voice channel in the left panel — you'll connect instantly. Use the mute, deafen and camera controls at the bottom of the app while you're in.
My microphone isn't working — how do I check it?
Open Settings → Voice & Video → Devices and use the "Test microphone" button — it shows a live input level so you can confirm Frevvu is actually hearing you. Also check that your OS hasn't blocked microphone access for the app or your browser.
How do I share my screen?
While in a voice channel, click the "Share screen" icon in the call controls, pick the window or display to share, and everyone in the channel can watch.
What are Voice Rooms and host controls?
Voice Rooms are stage-style voice channels with a host who can manage speakers, mute participants, and move people between speaking and listening roles — handy for talks, AMAs or classrooms.
Can I change which microphone or speaker Frevvu uses?
Yes — under Settings → Voice & Video → Devices, pick your input and output devices from the dropdowns, independent of your system default.
Messaging
DMs, reactions, polls and attachmentsHow do I send a direct message to someone?
Click "Direct Messages" in the left sidebar, then the + to start a new DM, or click a user's name/avatar anywhere and choose "Message." Group DMs work the same way with multiple people added.
How big can attachments be?
The default cap is 25 MB per file. Servers with a higher Ignite level get bigger limits (up to 100 MB at Level 3), and a Pro/Ultimate subscription raises your personal DM upload limit too.
How do polls work?
Click the attachments menu in any message box and choose "Poll." Add your question and options, post it, and members can vote — live results show as bars, columns or a pie chart depending on the poll style.
Can I use custom emoji and GIFs?
Yes. Servers unlock custom emoji slots as their Ignite level rises (up to 100 at Level 3) — upload them under Server Settings → Emojis. The GIF button in the message box searches GIFs to send directly.
How do I delete or edit a message I sent?
Hover the message and use the pencil icon to edit, or right-click (or open its "..." menu) and choose "Delete Message." You can only edit or delete your own messages unless you have moderation permissions.
Account & Customization
Your profile, appearance and notificationsHow do I change my avatar or profile banner?
Open Settings → My Account, click "Edit Profile," and upload a new photo for either — you'll get a crop tool to position and zoom before saving.
Can I change Frevvu's accent color or theme?
Yes — under Settings → Appearance, pick an accent color from the palette (or a custom one) and set your language. More theming options are on the roadmap.
How do I control which notifications I get?
Go to Settings → Notifications for app-wide defaults, or right-click a specific server/channel and choose "Notification Settings" to override it just for that one.
How do I change my username or password?
Both live under Settings → My Account. Changing your password will sign you out of other active sessions for security.
What is Developer Mode?
Turning on Settings → Developer → Developer mode adds a "Copy ID" option to the right-click menu on users, servers, channels and messages — handy for bug reports, support requests, or bot development.
Privacy & Safety
Blocking, reporting and staying in controlHow do I block someone?
Open their profile card, click the "..." menu, and choose "Block." Blocked users can't DM you or see your online status, and their messages are hidden from you in shared servers.
How do I report a user or a message?
Right-click the message or open the user's profile menu and choose "Report." Our Trust & Safety team reviews every report — for anything urgent, you can also contact us directly.
What's not allowed on Frevvu?
See our Community Guidelines for the full rules on harassment, illegal content, spam, privacy, impersonation and more — plus how reports and enforcement work.
Can I control who sends me friend requests?
Yes — under Settings → Privacy → Friend Requests, choose whether they can come from everyone, friends of friends, or only people who share a server with you.
What are Sensitive Content Filters?
Found under Settings → Privacy, these control whether images from people you don't know are automatically blurred until you choose to view them.
Who can see my online status?
By default, friends and shared-server members can see when you're online. You can set a custom status, appear offline, or enable Streamer Mode to hide personal info while sharing your screen.
Subscriptions & Ignite
Pro, Ultimate, and boosting your favorite serversWhat do Pro and Ultimate include?
Both raise your personal upload limits and let you Ignite (boost) servers — Pro can Ignite 1 server at a time, Ultimate up to 3. Ultimate also includes extra profile customization perks like animated decorations.
What does it mean to "Ignite" a server?
Igniting is boosting — as a Pro or Ultimate subscriber, you can contribute "sparks" to a server you're in. Enough sparks raise the server's Level (0–3), unlocking perks for everyone in it, like more emoji slots and animated banners.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Go to Settings → Subscriptions to see your current plan, change tiers, or cancel. Canceling keeps your benefits until the end of the current billing period.
What happens to a server's perks if boosts drop below a level's threshold?
The server's level (and its perks) recalculates automatically based on its current total sparks — if enough Ignites are removed, it can drop back down a level.
I was charged but don't see my subscription — what do I do?
First check Settings → Subscriptions — it can take a minute to reflect a fresh payment. If it's still missing after a few minutes, contact us with your account email and we'll sort it out.
Bots & Developers
Building on top of FrevvuHow do I create a bot application?
Open the Developer Portal, sign in with your Frevvu account, and click "Create App." You'll get a token to authenticate your bot — copy it immediately, since it's only shown once.
What is the Bot SDK?
@frevvu/bot-sdk is the official library for building bots — handling authentication, events and API calls for you. See the Bot SDK page for the full reference and quickstart. How do I invite my bot to a server?
From the Developer Portal, open your app, go to its Bot tab, and use the install/invite option to add it to any server where you have "Manage Server" permission.
Can I reset my bot's token if it leaks?
Yes — in the Developer Portal, open your app's Bot tab and click "Reset Token." The old token stops working immediately, so update anywhere your bot is deployed right after.
Does Frevvu support incoming webhooks?
Yes — create one from a channel's settings to post messages into it from an external service. Outbound event webhooks (Frevvu notifying your app when something happens) are on the roadmap.
Troubleshooting
Common fixes when something isn't workingI can't log in — what should I check?
Double-check your email and password, make sure Caps Lock is off, and confirm you verified your email after registering. If you forgot your password, use "Forgot password?" on the login screen to reset it.
Voice or video isn't working at all — where do I start?
Check your browser or OS's microphone/camera permissions for Frevvu first — that's the most common cause. Then use Settings → Voice & Video → Test microphone to confirm Frevvu can see your input.
The app looks broken, or something isn't loading — what do I try?
A hard refresh (Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + R) fixes most stale-cache issues on the web app. If that doesn't help, try clearing your browser cache, or restarting the desktop app.
Is Frevvu down right now?
Check the System Status page for real-time uptime and any ongoing incidents before assuming it's just you.
